Technology has made the World a Better Place to Live for people

The use of technological appliances and electronic devices has become common across the globe thus making the world a better place to live. The use of electronic gadgets has made the way of doing thing much easier than it was many years ago. As a result, it is difficult to go for a day without meeting new technological inventions, technical approaches and methods that involve the use of technology. Consequently, it is hard to live and work without technology in today’s world.  Today, there is many prove that the use of technology has greatly affected the way people live and work; however, the positive side of the use of new technology in life surpasses the negative side (Jonassen et al., 2012). This is because technology has made people’s live more convenience and easier. For instance, it is easier to communicate with different people from various countries through internet and telephone while at the office or home. Technology has made the world a better place to live.

Application of technology in today’s life

According to Bijker et al. (2012), there are various viewpoints regarding the application of new technologies and advancement in areas such as communication, transportation, education, and in the use of manpower, especially in the processing and manufacturing industries. For this reason, Callon (2010) affirms that there are both pros and cons brought about by the technological changes. However, technological advances have made it possible to solve life problems thus making life much better than it was few decades ago. For example, today, it is possible to move from one place to another by bus, car, airplane, excreta and experience other new things across the globe with ease.  Nevertheless, the use of new technologies also damage and threaten people’s quality of life due to the srapid changes (Callon, 2010).

On the other hand, Castells (2014) argues that throughout the human history, individuals have been on the look for better ways of doing things and meeting their daily needs to fulfill their expectations and contents. Consequently, various people have invented great efforts in technology that promote the well-being of the people. This implies that the use of technology has changed all the aspects of people’s life today. For example, people who practice agriculture have adopted new cultivation methods for their groups such as the use of farm machinery thus reducing the number of laborers and consequently reducing the cost of production. On the same hand, human life has become easier, faster, dynamic, and more comfortable due to technology advances. Today, people are using new technologies to enhance easy means of food production thus reducing the amount of time and money used in toiling in the fields; this has created demand in the food production and also enhances balanced agricultural activities.

Additionally, as mentioned before, technology has brought immense changes and revolution in human beings’ communication. At this era, people can communicate with friends and family members at anywhere around the world. For example, it is possible to communicate with friends in Srilanka  and other parts of the world in a blink of an eye using the cell phone. This implies that rapid changes in the technology have positively impacted the business world. Ritter, Wilkinson, and Johnston (2004) affirm that entrepreneurs can expand their businesses globally and can achieve adequate production on a daily basis; this promotes better living standards to human beings. Furthermore, consumers have been empowered by technology in that it is possible to buy products online and make payments from anywhere across the globe.

Lastly, the use of internet has brought massive human civilization that has brought in ripple impact on the contemporary modern society that never existed many years ago. For example, few decades ago it was not possible to imagine that telecommuting will exist in days to come. Today, due to technological growths people make work arrangements where employees are allowed to work from their homes or other convenient places instead of using designated or conventional workplaces; this is called telecommuting (Lee and Lee, 2012). This implies that employees can do their official duties from home or offices without necessarily having to bit the traffic congestion; this saves a lot of time and space.

In conclusion, without the presence of technology, it is evident that the world would not be a better place to live. The world would be devastating for people if there was no technological growth. For example, today, students are using the internet to search for relevant information they need when doing research works and assignments. This saves the time that would be spent going to the libraries and toil many hours looking for information. As a result, we must use technology in the pursuit of a better life; without technology the world would be a nightmare!
